Rhomberg Named Curator for 2010 Berlin Biennial
Berlin—Kathrin Rhomberg has been named the curator for the 2010 Berlin Biennial by the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, Artform reports. Rhomberg, who curated and directed the Secession exhibitions center in Vienna from 1990 to 2001, also co-curated Manifesta 3, with Maria Hlavajova, Ole Bouman, and Francesco Bonami, in Ljubljana in 2000.Hlavajova and Rhomberg teamed up in 2002 to create Tranzit, a long-term initiative to promote contemporary art projects in central Europe. From 2002-2007, Rhomberg directed the Art Association of Cologne.
The 2010 Biennial is Berlin's sixth. The first Biennial was planned and coordinated by Klaus Biesenbach, with Nancy Spector and Hans-Ulrich Obrist, in 1998. 2008's Biennial was curated by Elena Filipovic and Adam Szymczyk.
