徐小国的新画有以下几个特征：
1：视角是全景式的，不论场面大还是小都是以一个宏观的视点来观看的，这使作品有一种古典的、沉思的气氛。
2：画面空间是舞台式的，景物是模型化的，空间关系是简化、夸张的，光线是人造的。这个舞台形成了一个区别于现实的虚拟世界，脱离了日常时空，仿佛处于真空世界，使景物蒙上一层虚幻的永恒感。
3：画法是舞台布景画法和商业“行画”画法的融合，这并不是以构成反讽为目的，而是与主题相适合的。
