蓬皮杜中心罢工持续一周后,卢浮宫和奥赛博物馆也宣布加入罢工抗议队伍。

PARIS—A week after workers at the Pompidou Center went on strike to protest proposed staff reductions, their colleagues at the Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay have voted to join them, the Associated Press reports.

Both busy tourist destinations have closed after their employees voted today to join the protest, effective immediately.
The strikers are taking action against a government proposal to replace only half of retiring civil servants, including museum employees, as a way to shrink government and reduce France's deficit. The museum unions argue that the cuts will hinder operations. Strikers will vote each day on whether to go back to work or not.

The Louvre was the world's most visited museum last year, receiving 8.5 million visitors. The second most popular, the British Museum, received 5.93 million.
